Well, this is frightening!
The same way the technology useful to the users gets developed by giant companies, there is also a lot of development happening in parallel on the other face of the coin.
If you have been thinking that the hi-fi hacking and cracking techniques are limited only to Hollywood movies, sorry, there's water creeping under the mat and you even don't know till where has it reached under the cover of our awesomely pleasing technological infrastructure.
When you go for buying a mobile or a gadget, what you concentrate on, are it's specs, right?
It has a fingerprint reader? awesome!
It has got a retina scanner also? double awesome!
While you get into that "bliss"ful mode of thinking of how secure your gadget is, there is this guy, called Jan Krissler, aka Starbug who always keeps on thinking of how to take your blissfullness away from you.
Don't worry! He is not some sadist in your neighbourhood.
He's a hacker well known for hacking biometric devices.
His claim to fame, is breaching Apple’s TouchID and recreating the German defense minister’s thumbprint from a high-res image (of his hand, may be).
Here is where he gets more interesting and scary, especially for our "Selfie Lovers"...
He can also decode anyone’s smartphone PIN code from any selfie “image”. of the owner.
He extracts the reflection of smartphone screens in the eye whites of “selfie”
--> used an ultra-high resolution image techniques
--> extract the user’s PIN code!
Next time when you see someone being so joyful taking a selfie, you'll surely feel pity for their offsprings to be possible victims of this simple trick.
Starbug's works/plans also include, but are not limited to (As stated on TechWorm):
That's the flow, isnt' it? You should try something, get beaten and then learn from it, how to stand against it. But, the only difference would be the amount of impact.
So, please continue adopting and accepting the technology without giving even a thought about it and in no time, as you've seen how Google has helped us see each and every corner of the earth, there is some company hiding in the bush, waiting to jump on your eyes with it's sharpened cameras to track you inch by inch until you do nothing, but bowing down to it's enormous power! :D :D :D
Good Luck!!!

- extracting the iris data of German chancellor Angela Merkel, using a photo taken at a press conference, print 'em onto a contact lens and use 'em to hack any biometric enabled authentication device. (any hollywood scene striking? let's discuss.. comment below ;)
- How to make a dummy fingerprint to spoof Apple’s Touch ID sensor, simply by lifting a fingerprint from a basic print scanner and then making a mould.
- How to use a digital SLR camera with a 200 ml lens to take fingerprints that can be replicated from a distance – the method used to extract German Defense Minister Dr Von Der Leyen’s thumbprint ;) :P
- outlined a method to bypass liveness detection that demands that makes users blink, and he closed his presentation defeating a 3D facial recognition by using a papier mache mask.
